  • 2019 - 2020: Photothermal Water Evaporation and Electricity Generation - NUS

    We developed a new solution by controlling the heterogeneous water distribution and evaporation of hydrogel-based evaporators from 3D structures, water supplementary and hybrid wettability, towards enhanced liquid-vapor interface area and photothermal energy utilization as well as facilitated synergetic water-electricity-hydrogen production.
     

  • 2017 - 2019: Brayton Cycle Radioisotope Piezo-Thermoelectric Generator - SUSTech/Lanzhou Univ.


    We proposed a new design scheme and established experimental platforms of the Brayton cycle piezo-thermoelectric system and thermoelectric generator (TEG). We fabricated and measured Bi2Te3-based flexible TEG and PVDF-based piezoelectric energy harvesters.
     

  • 2016 - 2017: Portable Thermoelectric Camping Lamp (TECL) - Shanghai Institute of Ceramics (CAS)/Lanzhou Univ.


    We designed, fabricated, and measured the TECL prototype, and obtained 1.6 W electrical power and 0.5 % energy utilization, which accords well with theoretical calculation and numerical simulation results. Also, we optimized and fabricated a second-generation TECL by integrating it with chemical batteries, solar cells, and mini fans.
     

  • 2016 - 2017: Dynamic Hybrid Radioisotope Battery Based on Nanomaterials - Lanzhou Univ.


    We developed and designed a multi-level energy conversion model based on piezoelectric nanowires (convert mechanical energy) and thermoelectric nanomaterials (harvest thermal energy). We improved the power efficiency of the hybrid radioisotope battery from 0.13 % to 46.4 % and discussed the miniaturization of energy converters and mini hybrid RPS.
     

  • 2014 - 2016: PZT-Based Dynamic Thermal-to-Electrical Radioisotope Battery - Lanzhou Univ.

    We presented and evaluated the design scheme of the radioisotope battery including platform construction, experiment measurement, theoretical calculation, and numerical simulation. Based on RHU and nitrogen parameters, we obtained over 0.34 % non-thermal radiation experimental efficiency and powered an electronic watch directly using PZT-based energy harvesters.
